Teak (Tectona grandis Linn. f.) timber demand as well as its plantation activity is increasing globally. Root- shoots/stumps and seeds are used as a planting material in teak plantations. Teak stumps can be produced from seeds collected from identified seed sources, such as seed production areas and seed orchards but the seed yield per tree is low, and only few seedlings are produced per 100 seeds. Clonal propagation is, therefore, used to produce progeny plants, which are genetically identical to a single source plant. There are two aims of clonal propagation, namely large-scale multiplication of elite genotypes and production of large numbers of plants from scarce and costly seed that originates from controlled seed orchard pollinations. This can be achieved, in some species including teak, through rooted cuttings. Thus far, various strategies have been used but often achieved limited success mainly because of difficult and inefficient rooting process. Several physical and chemical factors are reported that help the cuttings to develop adventitious roots. Therefore, present study deals with these chemical and physical factors and its influence on the clonal propagation of teak.

It is difficult to control these pests in old plantations so, selecting clones which are resistant orless suceptible is the most vital option of pest management. The research has highlighted the identification of teak clones on the basis of morphological, biochemical and nutritional characters which ulktimately proves R.H. Painter's theory of resistance and conforms non-preference and antibiosis type of resistance in the selected clones.

In an effort to find new preservatives which are less hazardous, the efficacy of heartwood water extracts of Tectona grandis (teak) and Piptadeniastrum africanum (dahoma) (0.60 g/ml) were pressure and non-pressure impregnated into ten Ghanaian selected LUS and exposed in the field to the ground for 8 months. Visual durability ratings, hardness and mass losses were measured in assessing their field performance. Though less used timber species (LUS) retained dahoma extract more altogether, teak extract improved the durability of both pressure and non-pressure impregnated LUS more than that of dahoma did.Durability of LUS pressure impregnated with teak extract was finally ranked as follows: P. macrocarpus A. ferruginea B. sapida S. rhinopetala A. pterocarpoides C. zenkeri C. gigantea S. oblonga A. toxicaria C. schweinfurthii. Durability of LUS non-pressure impregnated with teak extract, regardless of impregnation method, was ranked as follows: S. oblonga C. gigantea C. zenkeri C. schweinfurthii A. Toxicaria.
